Interesting Read: 7 Foods "Secretly" Staining Your Teeth

Hi darlins'! It's great to see ya here!

Confession time: I'm one of those people who's terribly self-conscious about my teeth. Are they straight enough? Are they white enough? Are my old-school silver fillings showing? You get the idea.

So this recent Women's Health article totally caught my eye:

Here are the 7 foods they say are "secretly" staining your teeth...
  1. Berries
  2. Beets
  3. Crackers
  4. Balsamic Vinegar
  5. Pickles
  6. Coffee and Tea
  7. Tomato Sauce
On a first glance, I'm not shocked at all by #6, I always try to limit my coffee/black tea intake when I'm looking to get a whiter smile. BUT the rest really caught me off guard. I mean, pickles and crackers? Reeeally? After reading the article and the explanations for each (pickles = acidic erosion & crackers = refined carbohydrates turning into sugar) I kind of buy it, but I'm not entirely sold.

Beyond avoiding coffee/tea/red wine, a few other whitening products I use on occasion are Crest Whitestrips Advanced Vivid, Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster and Crest 3D Glamorous White Rinse.

What do you think? Do you stay away from the foods above to whiten up your smile? What kind of teeth-whitening products do you use if any? All comments/thoughts/ramblings are welcome!

  1. Glad to know tea is on this list! I've been trying to cut coffee lately and have been drinking a lot of tea, and have been pretty self-conscious about teeth coloring, so the tea explains it! Will definitely have to try the white strips and whitening booster! Not sure I can give up coffee/tea completely.
